1st one-day match of 3 ODI match series played between India and Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. Opting to bat First, Australia with UT Khawaja (59), SE Marsh (54) and PSP Handscomb's excellent 73 runs put huge total of 288 runs in 50 overs for India. India in reply failed to get good start and lost 3 wickets of just 4 runs. MS Dhoni joined with RG Sharma and played useful cricket initially. Dhoni played well and contributed 51 runs before left the field. RG Sharma also played superb cricket in middle and smashed his 22nd century with aggrassive batting. He made 133 runs of 129 runs with 6 huge sixes in his brave inning. India managed to score 254 runs in 50 overs and lost the match by 34 runs. JA Richardson declared man of the match for his career best figures 10-2-26-4.
