1st match of Big Bash League 2017-18 played between Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder today. at Sydney Showground Stadium. Skipper SR Watson's quick 77 runs of 46 balls led Sydney Thunders to knees down Sydney Sixers by 5 wickets in last ball finished match. Sixers made 149/9 runs in 20 over and Thunder made chase the given target in 20 overs having lost 5 wickets and won the match by 5 wickets. SR Watson declared man of the match for his match winning 77 runs.

Earlier, Thunder won the toss and elected to firld first. Putting into bat first by Thunder, Sixers managed to put 149 runs in 20 overs. NJ Maddinson 31 runs and SW Billings 32 runs were top scorers for Sixers. MJ McClenaghan, Fawad Ahmed and AJ Nair took 2 wickets each for Thunder.

Following target of 150 runs, Thnder lost Buttler early for a no score. Skipper SR Watson joined with KR Patterson and played excellent inning for Thunder. He made 77 runs of 46 balls with 6 fantastick fours and 6 towering sixes in his splendid inning. KR Patterson also played well and contributed 29 runs before left the field. Match turned into dramatic situation and Thunder needed 15 runs in last six balls. At one stage Thunders needed 1 run in 1 ball and they made it with style and won the match by 5 wickets in 1st match of BBL 2017-18. Thunder got 2 wel come poinrts and Sixers yet to open an account in points tally of Big Bash 2017-18.
