1st match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 has been played between host country England abd Bangladesh of Group A on Thursday, June 01, 2017 at Kennington Oval, London. Putting into bat first by host team England, Bangladesh with top orders excellent batting managed to put huge score of 305 runs in 50 overs. Tamim Iqbal smashed 128 runs and M Rahim made 79 runs for Bangladesh. England also in reply played superb cricket and win the match by 8 wickets with 16 balls remaining. Joe Root smashed 133* runs tone and skipper EJG Morgan also contributed well 75 runs. JE Root declared man of the match for his match winning 133* runs.
Earlier, England won the toss and opted to bowl first and let Bangladesh to set target to get. Bangladesh made slow but good start with Tamim Iqbal and Saumya Sarkar initially. Both added 56 runs before Saumya Sarkar got out scoring 28 runs. Imrul Kayes also left the field scoring 19 runs. Wickerkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim joined with Tamim Iqbal and played superb cricket in middle overs. Mushfiqur Rahim played good quick cricket and contributed 79 runs of 72 balls before got out. Tamim Iqbal at other end played excellent inning of 128 runs with splendid inning and put Bangladesh on huge total of 305 runs in 50 overs.
Following huge target of 306 runs, England could not made batter start and lost JJ Roy early scoring just 1 run. JE Root joined with AD Hales and played superb cricket for England and went after Bangladesh bowlers as well. AD Hales played excellent inning of 95 runs in 86 balls before lost his wicket. J Root continued to play good cricket and with skipper EJG Morgan played match winning inning of un beaten 133 runs and gifted well deserve win over Bangladesh by 8 wickets with 16 ball remaining. Skipper Morgen also played responsible inning of 75* runs for England.
