1st semi final match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 has been played between host country England and Pakistan on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Putting into bat first by Pakistan, Host team England most batsmen failed to bat well and managed to put small total of 211 runs and all out in 49.5 overs. Pakistan in reply made chase easily with top oeders superb bating in 37.1 overs nad crush England by 8 wickets. Hasan Ali declared man of the match for his 3 for 35 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and invited England to bat first and set target in very important match. Putting into bat first, England once again failed to got good start and lost AD Hales scoring 13 runs. Joe Root joined with JM Bairstow and played slow but sensible cricket initially. Both played well and contributed 46 and 43 runs respectively. Skipper EJG Morgan got good start but became victim of Hasan contributing 33 runs. BA Stokes came in middle and kept his end safe but at other wicket continued to fall in regular interwals and England managed to put small total of 211 runs in 49.5 overs. BA Stokes made 34 runs before left the field. Hasan Ali bowled well and took three important wickets. Junaid Khan and debut bowler Rumman Raees also kept England in control and picked up 2 wickets each with excellent bowling performances.

Pakistan in reply got excellent start with opening batsmen and knees down England by 8 wickets with 77 balls remining. Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zamam gave Pakistan superb start. Both smashed fifties and added 118 runs in 21.1 overs with sensible batting before Zamam lost his wicket scoring 57 runs. Azhar Ali also contributed well 76 runs before left the field. Rest was done by Babar Azam (38*) and Mhd Hafeez (31*) and presented Pakistan well deserve win over England and qualify for ICC Champions Trophy Final as well. Pakistan will play Final match with winner of India and Bangladesh Semi Final 2 match on Sunday 18th June, 2017.
