7th match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 has been played between Pakistan and South Africa of Group B on Wednesday, June 07, 2017 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Opting to bat first, South Africa managed to put small total of 219 runs in 50 overs. DA Miller played well and made unbeaten 75 runs for South Africa. In later half rain interupted match after 27 overs when Pakistan were 119/3 and well ahead by 19 runs as per D/L method. Heavy rain observed afterword at Birmingham and Pakistan given win by 19 runs D/L method. Hasan Ali declared man of the match for his 3 wicketsfor 24 runs.
Earlier, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. Opting to bat first South Africa got slow start with Q de Kock and HM Amla initially. Both added 40 runs in 8.2 overs before HM Amla got LBW out scoring 16 runs. de Kock also followed him contributing 33 runs. Skipper AB de Villiers got out on very first ball he faced without scoring and South Africa were in trouble. F du Plessis and DA Miller took the charge in hand for Africa and played slow but sensible cricket in middle overs. du Plessis also left the field scoring 26 runs and JP Duminy finished with just 8 runs. Having won the toss, South Africa bestmen failed to put big total and managed to score 219 runs in 50 overs. DA Miller played good inning of 75 runs and remain not out till end. Hasan Ali took 3 for 24 and Junaid Khan & Imad Wasim picked-up two wickets each for Pakistan.
Following small target of 220 runs, Pakistan intially got good start with Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman. Both bacame victims of Morne Morkel's over and Pakistan were 41/2 in 7.4 overs. Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez came in middle and took the charge in hand for Pakistan. Mohammad Hafeez also became victim of M Morkel and got out scoring 26 runs.
