3rd match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 will be played between Sri Lanka and South Africa of Group B on Saturday, June 03, 2017 at Kennington Oval, London. Putting into bat firdt by Sri Lanka, South Africa managed to put good score of 299 runs in 50 overs with HM Amla's 103 and F du Plessis' 75 runs. Sri Lanka in reply all out scoring 203 runs in 41.3 overs and lost the match by huge margins of 96 runs. HM Amla smashed century but Imran Tahir declared man of the match for his excellent bowling figures 8.3-0-27-4.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. South Africa got good start with HM Amla and Q de Kock initially. Both added 44 runs before Q de Kock got out scoring 23 runs. F du Plessis joined with Amla and took the charge in hand for South Africa. Both played sensible cricket and added 144 runs for 2nd wicket before de Plessis lost his wicket contributing well 75 runs of 70 balls. Skipper AB de Villiers and DA Miller could not stood in for long and got out scoring 4 and 18 runs respectively. HM Amla played excellent inning of 103 runs and became 1st ODI players to reach 25 one day centuries. JP Duminy in later overs played quick cricket and made 38 runs of 20 balls. South Africa managed to put 299 runs in 20 overs.
Following target of 300 runs, Sri Lanka got good start with N Dickwella and WU Tharanga initially. Both added 69 runs in 8.2 overs before Dickwella got out scoring quick 41 runs of 33 balls. Upul Tharanga also played good inning of 57 runs before left the field. Other middle and lower orders failed to bat well and continued to lost wickets in regular interwals. Only Kushal Perera played well and made 44 runs but he didn't got support from other end and Sri Lanka all out scoring 203 runs in 41.3 overs. South Africa made comprehensive win by huge margins of 96 runs and open account in points tally in their opening match. Imran Tahir bowled well and picked up 4 wickets of 27 runs with superb bowling performances.
