Kusal Perera's 78 runs followed by Pradeep's 4 for & Malinga's 3 wkts led Sri Lanka to crush Afghanistan by 34 runs

7th match of ICC cricket worldcup 2019 played between Afghanistan vs Srl Lanka on Tuseday, June 4, 2019 at Cardiff Wales Stadium, Cardiff. Putting into bat first by Afghanistan, Sri Lanka got fluent start with top order batsmen. Karunaratne (30), Kusal Perera (78) and Thirimanne (25) runs were top scorers for Sri Lanka form the top. Sri Lanka were 144/2 as one stage but middle orders failed to understand Mhd Nabi's turning balls well and lost 3 quick wickets in 1 over of Nabi. Experienced AD Mathwes and Dhananjaya gone for a duck and BKG Mendis and NLTC Perera made just 2 runs each in middle overs. Sri Lanka were 182/8 in 33 overs and rain stopped the match. Match started after long delay and cut to 41 overs match per side. Sri Lanka managed to score 201 runs but, Afghanistan given 187 runs target to get in 41 overs (D/L).

Folowing target of 187 runs, Afghanistan got good start initially but most batsmen faild to stood in middle for long and lost wickets in regular interwals. Hazratullah Zazai 30 runs and N Zadran 43 runs were top scorers for Afghanistan. Afghanistan all out scoring 152 runs and lost the match by 34 runs. SL Malinga took 3 wicket and Nuwan Pradeep picked up 4 wickets of 31 runs. N Pradeep declared man of the match.
