Ben Stokes' 84* took final to a Super over & both teams scored 15 runs each but, England won 1st World Cup title on boundaries
Final match of ICC cricket worldcup 2019 played between New Zealand vs England on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Lord's, London. Electing to bat first, New Zealand managed to set 242 runs target for England to get. HM Nicholls played well and made 55 runs. Tom Latham also played good inning of 47 runs for New Zealand. CR Woakes and Liam Plunkett bowled well and took 3 wickets each for England as well.
Following 242 runs, England lost top four wickets in 86 runs. BA Stokes and JC Buttler took the charge in hand and played wonderfull innings for England. Buttler contributed well 59 runs before left the field but, Stokes stood in middle and managed to score equal New Zealand's 241 runs and match tied. Match turn into super overs but both team score once again 15 runs each. England smashed 24 boundaries in 241 runs and New Zealand smashed 16 bounradies in their 241 runs. So, England declared winner of match on maximum boundaries hits in innings.
Wonderful game of cricket ended in favor of England and team England became sixth team to lift World Cup title in history of World Cricket. England won title for the time in a high voltage drama and heart beatiing finished Grand finale match. BA Stokes awared man of the match for his 84 unbeaten runs. KS Willimson declared player of the series for his huge contribution with bat.
