Opting to bat first, South Africa could not made batter start and lost both opening batsmen ealy. Bumrah removed both openers with excellent bowling. In middle overs YS Chahal took the charge in hand for India and picked up 4 wickets in his 10 overs. B Kumar also took 2 wickets. F du Plessis (38), CH Morris (42), DA Miller (31) and K Rabada (31) runs were top scorers for South Africa.
India with RG Sharma's excellent 122* runs made chase in 47.3 overs and won 1st 2019 Worldcup encounter easily by 6 wickets. MS Dhoni also played good supporting inning of 34 runs for India. RG Sharma declared man of the match.
