Match 5 : Ravindra Jadeja's 3 for 28 followed by KL Rahul (97*) & Virat's (85) big fifties led India to knees down Australia by 6 wickets
5th match of ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 between India vs Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday, October 08, 2023.
Opting to bat first, Australia with very poor batting performances managed to score 199 runs in 49.3 overs. Steven Smith with 46 runs and David Warner with 41 runs were top batsmen for Australia. Ravindra Jadeja bowled very well and took 3 wickets of just 28 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav also picked up 2 wickets each for India as well.
Following small target of 200 runs, India lost top three wickets in team score 2 runs in 2 overs. Ishan (0), Rohit (0) and Shreyas (0) put India in big trouble. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took the charge in hand and played superb innings for India. Both added 165 runs for 4th wicket before Virat got out scoring wonderful 85 runs. KL Rahul take match in India's favore with 97 unbeaten runs and presented comprehensive win by 6 wickets. He declared man of the match as well.
