1st Semi Final : Virat & Shreyas' centuries followed by Shami's career best 7 for 57 powered India to knocked out New Zealand by 70 runs
1st Semi Final Match of ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 between India vs New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Opting to bat first, India with top orders batsmen wonderful batting performances set huge target of 398 runs for New Zealand to get. Rohit Sharma with 29 balls 47 runs, Shubman Gill's 66 balls 80 unbeaten runs, Virat Kohli's 50th ODI century with 117 runs, Shreyas Iyer's 70 balls 105 runs and KL Rahul's firing unbeaten 20 balls 39 runs were highlights of Indian inning. Tim Southee took 3 wickets conceding 100 runs in his 10 overs.
Following very huge target of 398 runs, New Zealand fought hard with Kane Williamson's 69 runs and Daryl Mitchell's wonderful 119 balls 134 runs but managed to score 327 runs and lost the match by huge margins of 70 runs. Mohammed Shami bowled his career best spell and took 7 wickets of 57 runs in 9.5 overs. He declared player of the match. India qualify for Final of ICC World cup 2023 as well.
