2nd Semi Final : Superb pace bowling followed by Travis Head's quick 62 runs led Australia to upset Africa by 3 wkts in low scoring thriller
2nd Semi Final Match of ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 between South Africa vs Australia at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Opting to bat first, South Africa with inform tp order batsmen failure at one stage were 24/4 in 12 overs. Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller took the charge in hand and played good cricket initially. Klaasen got out scoring 47 runs but David Miller played wonderful inning of 101 runs and put Africa on some defendable target of 213 runs for Australia to get. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took 3 wickets each. Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head also took 2 wickets each for Australia.
Following small target of 213 runs, Australia got wonderful quick start with Travis Head and David Warner initially. David Warner got out scoring 29 runs. Travis Head played good quick inning of 48 balls 62 runs. Because of small target Australia bated slow and sensible cricket and made chase in 47.2 overs having lost 7 wickets and won the match by 3 wickets. Travis Head declared man of the match.
