Super Eight Match 12 : Naveen-ul-Haq & Rashid's 4 wkts each powered Afghanistan to defend 114 runs and upset Bangladesh by 8 runs (D/L)

12th match of ICC t20 Worldcup 2024 Super Eight stage played between Afghanistan vs Bangladesh at Arnos Vale Ground, St Vincent, Kingstown on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan with very slow batting managed to set small target of 116 runs for Bangladesh to get. Rahmanullah Gurbaz with 43 runs was top scorer for Afghanistan. Rishad Hossain took 3 wickets for Bangladesh. Rain delayed 2nd inning and Bangladesh get revised target of 114 runs to win the match in 19 overs (D/L).

Following small taget of 114 runs in 19 overs, Bangladesh with very poor batting performances all out scoring 105 runs in 17.5 overs and lost the match by 8 runs (DLS). Litton Das remained unbeaten scoring 54 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Rashid Khan claimed 4 wickets each for Afghanistan. Naveen-ul-Haq declared man of the match for his 4 wickets.

Hereby Afghanistan qualify for Semi Final 1st time in any ICC big events and knocked out Australia from semis as well. Afghanistan will play with South Africa 1st Semi Finale on June 27 at Tarouba, Trinidad followed by India will play 2nd semi finale with England at Guyana. Final match will be played on June 29 at Barbados between winners of Semi Final matches.
