1st ODI : Mhd Shami's 5 wkts haul followed by Ruturaj, Shubman, Suryakumar & KL Rahul's fifties powered India to upset Australia by 5 wickets
1st oneday international match of three odi match series between India vs Australia at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on Friday, September 22, 2023.
Putting into bat first by India, Australia with David Warner's 52 runs, Josh Inglis' 45 runs, Steven Smith's 41 runs and Pat Cummins' quick 9 balls 21 unbeaten runs set good defending target of 277 runs for India to get. Mohammed Shami bowled well and took 5 wickets of 51 runs.
Following 277 runs target, India made quick and confident start with RD Gaikwad and Shubman Gill initially. Both added 142 runs in 21.4 overs before Ruturaj got out scoring well 71 runs. Shubman Gill also contributed well 74 runs before left the field. After that, Suryakumar's 50 runs and KL Rahul's unbeaten 58 runs powered India to made chase given target 277 runs in 48.4 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. Mhd Shami declared man of the match for his 5 wickets.
