Kohli and Rahane's 50s followed by Kuldeep's hat-trick powered India to upset Australia by 50 runs at Eden Gardens
2nd ODI of 5-match series between India and Australia played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata today. Opting to bat first, India managed to put 252 runs in 50 overs. Skipper Kohli 92 and AM Rahane 55 runs were top scorers for India. NM Coulter-Nile and KW Richardson took three wickets each for Australia. Australia in reply surrender against Indian spiners and managed to score 202 runs and lost the match by 50 runs. Kuldeep Yadav claims hat-trick wickets with extra-ordinery bowling performance for India. He holds great record to became 3rd bowler claims hat-trick for India in ODIs. Virat Kohli declared man of the match for his 92 runs.
Eariler, India won the toss and elected to bat. India could not made batter start and lost RG Sharma early scoring 7 runs in 6th over. Skipper Virat Kohi joined with AM Rahane and played excellent cricket for India. Both smashed fifties and made 102 runs partnership for 2nd wicket before AM Rahane got unfortunately run out scoring well 55 runs. Kohli also played good inning of 92 runs before left the field. Manish Pandey (3) and MS Dhoni (5) failed today. KM Jadhav played small but good inning of 24 runs in 24 runs. HH Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar made 20 runs each and put India on decent total of 252 runs in 50 overs. NM Coulter-Nile and KW Richardson took three wickets each with good bowling for Australia.
Following target of 253 runs, Australia lost both opening batsmen DA Warner and HWR Cartwright early. HWR Cartwright gone first for 1 runs and Da Warner also depart scoring just 1 run and Australia were in trouble with 2-9 in 5th over. Skipper SPD Smith and TM Head came in middle and took the charge in hand for Australia. Both played sensible cricket initially and added 79 runs for 3rd wicket before TM Head gone scoring well 39 runs of Chahal. Next man G Maxwell also became victim of YS Chahal and made his way contributing 14 runs. SPD Smith at other played good cricket and smashed fifty as well. He made 59 runs and lost his wicket to HH Pandya. Then, Kuldeep Yadav played remembering part of the match and claim his 1st hat-trick with superb bowling. MS Wade, AC Agar and PJ Cummings were three victims of Kuldeep Yadav's deadly bowling. This was the 3rd moment by an Indian bowler to claim hat-trick in one-day internationals. Previously, Chetan Sharma amd Kapil Dev took hat-trick wickets for India. Both were fast medium bowlers, while Kuldeep Yadav is chinaman spiner bowler. MP Stoinis played well for Australia and contributed 62 unbeaten runs but he dedn't got support much from other end and Australia all out scoring 202 runs in 43.1 overs. India won the match by 50 runs and led series 2-0 as well.
