Pandya, Rohit & Rahane's fifties helps India to knees down Australia by 5 wkts, clinch series 3-0 and holds No.1 ODI team ranking
3rd one day international of 5-match ODI series between India and Australia played at Holkar Stadoum, Indore today. Opting to bat first, Australia managed to put 293/6 runs in 50 overs. AJ Finch played well and smashed 124 runs. SPD Smith also contributed well 63 runs for Australia. India in reply chase the given target having lost 5 wkts and registered comprehensiv win with 13 balls remaining and win 5-match series by 3-0 as well. RG Sharma 71 ans AM Rahane 70 runs gave India excellent start from the top and HH Pandya made 78 runs. Pandya declared man of the match for his 1 wicket and 78 runs.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first on batting pitch of Indore. Opting to bat first, Ahstralia got good start with DA Warner and incoming opening batsman AJ Finch initially. Both played well and added 70 runs in 13.3 overs before David Warner got out scoring 42 runs of 44 balls. SPD Smith joined with Aaron Finch and took the charge in hand for Australia. Both played excellent cricket in middle overs and added 166 runs for 2nd wicket before AJ Finch left the field scoring very well 124 runs. Skipper Smith also made his way contributing well 63 runs. Other middle orders failed to keep the momentum on and lost wickets in quick interwals. At last Australia managed to put 293 runs in 50 overs having lost 6 wickets. Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each for India.
Following target of 294 runs, India made superb start with Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. Both played good quick cricket initialy and smashed fifties as well in no time. Both added 139 runs for 1st wicket before RG Sharma got out scoring well 71 runs of 62 balls. He hitz 6 fours and 4 massive sixes in his excellent inning. AM Rahane also followed him contributing well 70 runs of 76 balls. Skipper V Kohli and Hardik Pandya came in middle and played sensible cricket for India. Virat Kohli left the field scoring 28 runs and next man KM Jadav also gone early scoring just 2 runs and India were 4/206 in 35.2 overs. Hardik Pandya at other end played brav cricket and smashed fifty as well with excellent batting. He got out scoring 78 runs and put India on wining position as well. MK Pandey did the rest contributing 36 unbeaten runs and presented India well deserve win by 5 wickets with 13 balls remaining. India clinch the 5-match series by 3-0 and also holds No.1 position in ICC one day team ranking as well.
