Latham & Taylor's 200 runs stand powered Kiwis to upset India by 6 wkts and led 3-match series 1-0
1st one-day international match of 3-math series between India and New Zealand has been played at Mumbai today. Opting to bat first, India with skipper Virat Kohli's 100 ton managed to put good total of 281 runs for New Zealand to get in 50 overs. Kolhi smashed 121 runs for India with excellent batting performance. New Zealand in reply with Taylor and Latham's superb 200 runs partnership chase the given target in 49 overs and won by 6 wickets as well. Latham got man of the match for his 103 unbeaten runs.
Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bat first. India could not made batter start and lost both opening batsmen S Dhawan (9) and RG sharma (20) runs early. KM Jadhav also got out scoring just 12 runs and India were in trouble scoring 71/3 in 16th over. V Kohli and KD Karthik took the charge in hand for India and played good cricket initially. Karthik made well 37 runs before left the field. Skipper Kohli has a great day today and smashed 121 runs of 125 balls before left the field in last over. B Kumar played quick inning of 26 runs of 15 balls and helps India to put competative total of 280 runs in 50 overs. TA Boult bowled well and picked up 4 wickets for New Zealand, Southee also took 3 wickets.
Following target of 281 runs, New Zealand got good start with C Munro and MJ Guptill initially. Both played well and added 48 runs in 9.3 overs before Munro lost his wicket scoring 28 runs. Next man skipper KS Willimson also made his way quickly contributing just 6 runs. Guptill also left the field scoring 32 runs and New Zealand were in trouble. Ross Taylor and Latham took the charge in hand for Kiwis and played excellent cricket in middle overs. Both played sensible cricket and smashed fifties as well. Taylor got out on 95 runs when just New Zealand needed just 1 runs to win and Latham remained unbeaten scoring very well match winning 103 runs. New Zealand won by by 6 wickets with 6 balls reminings.
