1st T20i : Ishan Kishan & SS Iyer's quick fifties followed by superb bowling powered India to upset Lanka by 62 runs

1st twenty20 international match of three T20i match series played between Sri Lanka and India on February 24, 2022 at Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium, Lucknow.

Putting into bat first by Sri Lanka, India got fluent start with RG Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Both added 111 runs before Rohit got out scoring 44 runs. Ishant smashed 89 runs of 56 balls with three massive sixes and ten fentastic fours. Shreyas Iyer also played firing inning of 28 balls 57 runs unbeaten inning and powered India to set 200 runs target for Sri Lanka to get.

Following 200 runs target, Sri Lanka with very poor batting performances managed to score 137 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by huge margins of 62 runs. Charith Asalanka the only player played well and made 53 unbeaten runs. B Kumar and Venkatesh Iyers took 2 wickets each for India. Ishan Kishan declared man of the match for his wonderful 89 runs. India led 3-match series 1-0 as well.
