1st ODI : Wellalage's 67 runs and 2 wickets with Hasaranga & Asalanka's 3 wickets each helps Sri Lanka to tie match in series opener

1st ODI match of three oneday international match series between Sri Lanka vs India played at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium, Colombo on Friday, 02 August, 2024.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka with Pathum Nissanka's 56 runs and Dunith Wellalage's superb unbeaten 65 balls 67 runs set good target of 231 runs for India to get. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel shared 2 wickets each for India as well.

Following 231 runs target, India got good start wirh Rohit and Shubman. Both added 75 runs before Shubman got out scoring 16 runs. Rohit played well and made 58 runs. Axar Patel with 33 runs, KL Rahul with 31 runs and Shivam Dube with 25 runs played good cricket but India managed to score 230 runs and match turn into tied. Hasaranga and Asalanka took 3 wickets each. Dunith Wellalage declared man of the match for his 67 runs & 2 wickets.
