1st T20i : Suryakumar's 26 ball 58 runs followed by superb bowling powered India to upset Sri Lanka by 43 runs

1st T20i match of limited overs match series between Sri Lanka vs India played at Pallekele Cricket Stadium, Kandy on Saturday, 27 July, 2024.

Putting into bat first by Sri Lanka, India got firinf start with Yashasvai and Shubhman initially. Both added 74 runs in 6 overs and lost wicket on consecutive ball scoring 21 balls 40 runs and 16 balls quick 34 runs consecutively. Suryakumar Yadav with 26 balls firing 58 runs and Rishabh Pant's 33 balls 49 runs helps India to set huge target of 214 runs for Sri Lanka o get. Matheesha Pathirana was eapensive but took 4 wickets of 40 runs for Sri Lanka.

Following huge target of 214 runs, Sri Lanka opening batsmen played well. Kushal Mendis made 45 runs and Nissanka played good inning of 79 runs. A one stage Sri Lanka were 140/1 but middle and lower order batsmen failed to bat well and Sri Lanka managed to score 170 runs and lost the match by 43 runs. Arshdeep & Axar took 2 wickets each. Riyan also took 3 wickets. Suryakumar declared man of the match for his 58 runs.
