28th Match of IPLt20 2016 has been played between Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on 1st May 2016. Putting into bat first by home team Gujarat Lions, Punjab team managed to put 154 runs on board in 19.5 overs. New Skipper M Vijay played well and made 55 runs from the top. Gujarat batsmen could not bat well and faild to chase small target as well. Gujarat managed to score 131/9 and lost the match by 23 runs. AR Patel (KXIP) declared man of the match for his 4 for 21 in 4 overs.

Earlier, Gujarat Lions won the toss and elected to field first. Punjab got good start with skipper M Vijay and MP Stoinis initially. Both played well and contributed well 55 and 27 runs from the top. Middle orders surrender against chinaman S Kaushik and went back to pavillion early. In later overs DA Miller and WP Saha played some good cricket with contributing 31 and 33 runs and put Punjab on some respactable score of 154 runs in 19.5 overs.S Kaushik picked up 3 important wickets for Gujarat Lions.

Following target of 155 runs, Gujarat could not made batter start and lost BB McCullum early scoring just 1 runs. Skipper SK Raina 18, DR Smith 15 and KD Karthik;s 2 ware sudden flow of wickets in bunch put Gujarat in deep trouble as well .AR Patel's remarkable bowlong spell 4 for 21 in 4 overs break the back bone of Gujarat Lions in middle overs. At one stage GL were 5/39 in 7 overs. Other lower orders tried their level best but could not stood in middle for long and Gujarat lost the match by 23 runs.
