Earlier, Gujarat Lions won the toss and elected to field first. Mumbai could not made batter start and lost skipper RG Sharma 7 and HH Pandya 2 runs early. PA Patel played well and contributed 34 runs from the top. In later overs TG Southee played quick inning of 25 runs of 11 balls and put Mumbai on some respectable total of 143 runs on board at the end of 20 overs.

Following target of 144 runs, Gujarat Lions also lost BB McCullum early scoring just 6 runs. AJ Finch and SK Raina took the charge in hand and played good cricket ititially. SK Rains made 27 runs before lost the field. Gujarat continued to lost wickets at other end but, AJ Finch remained in field with splendid batting performance nad presented yet another win with his consecutive 50s by 3 wickets. AJ Finch made 67* runs and gave Gujarat win on the last ball of the match.
