1st Match of IPL 2016 has been played between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergients at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Opting to bat first, Mumbai top orders colleps badly and most batsmen faild to bat well. Mumbai managed to put small total of 121 runs in 20 overs. Rising Pune with splendid top orders batting performances won the match by 9 wickets. AM Rahane declared man of the match for his superb knock of 66* runs of just 42 balls.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. The decesion not gone in favor of Mumbai and most batsmen failed to play good cricket. Only Harbhajan Singh played sensible cricket and contributed well 45 runs of just 30 balls. AT Rayudu also played well and made 22 runs for Mumbai. Mumbai put small total of 121 runs in 20 overs.
Following small total of 122 runs Rising Pune made confident start with AM Rahane and F de Plessis. Both played splendid cricket and put Pune on easy win. F du Plessis got out scoring 34 runs but, AM Rahane played till end and contributed superb 66* runs of just 42 balls and presented Pune welcome win in very first apperience in IPL over defending champion Mumbai by huge margins of 9 wickets in 14.4 overs..
