Match 51 : Venkatesh Iyer's 70 runs followed by Starc's 4 for & good spin bowling powered Kolkata to upset Mumbai by 24 runs
IPLT20 2024 Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders match played on Friday, May 03, 2024 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Putting into bat first by Mumbai, Kolkata top order batemen collepsed badly and were 5/57 in 6 overs. Venkatesh Iyer with 52 balls 70 runs and Manish Pandey with 31 balls 42 runs helps KKR to set defending target of 170 runs for Mumbai to get. Nuwan Thushara and Jasprit Bumrah bowled well and took 3 wickets each for Mumbai.
Following 170 runs target, Mumbai with very poor batting performances all out scoring 145 runs in 18.5 overs and lost the match by 24 runs. Suryakumar Yadav the only player who played well and contributed 35 balls 56 runs. Mitchell Starc took 4 wickets. Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell took 2 wickets each for KKR. Venkatesh Iyer declared man of the match for his 70 runs.
