Despite of Dananjaya's quick 6 wkts, Bhuvi & Dhoni's out-standing 8th wkts 100 runs stand helps India to win by 3 wkts
2nd one-day international match of five ODI match series between Sri Lanka and India played on 24th August 2017 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Putting into bat first by India, Sri Lanka managed to put 236/8 runs in 50 overs. Rain delayed match in 2nd half and India given 231 runs target to get in 47 overs. After gatting excellent start from RG Sharma and S Dhawan, India's middle orders collepsed against A Dhananjaya's deadly bowling. At one stage India were 131/7 but, B Kumar and MS Dhoni's 8th wicket 100 runs stand gave India comprehensive win by 3 wickets. Akila Dhananjaya declared man of the match for his roking preformance with 6 wickets in his 10 overs.
Earlier, India won thr toss and put Sri Lanka into bat first. Sri Lanka open inning confidently with N Dickwella and MD Gunathilaka initially. Both played sensible cricket and added 41 runs in 7.4 overs before N Dickwella got out in hurry scoring 31 runs of 24 balls. MD Gunathilaka also followed him scoring 19 runs and Sri Lanka were in trouble. Other middle orders failed to bat well once again and Sri Lanka were 5/121 in 29th over of inning. TAM Siriwardana and CK Kapugedera played good cricket in middle overs and put Sri Lanka on respectable total of 236/8 runs in 50 overs. Siriwardana made well 58 runs of 58 balls and Kapugedera also played good inning of 40 runs for Sri Lanka. JJ Bumrah bowled very well for India and took 4 wicket for 43 runs.
Rain fall during lunch berak and match reduced by 3 overs. India got new target of 231 runs to get in 47 overs. Following target of 231 runs, India got excellent start with inform S Dhawan and RG Sharma. Both played good cricket and added 109 runs for 1st wicket before RG Sharma got out after scoring well 54 runs of 45 balls. Akila Dhananjaya bowled LBW out to RG Sharma. S Dhawan also followed him scoring 49 runs fallowing 1 runs short of his half century. After that Akila Dhananjaya took quick four wickets in no time and put India in deep pressure. KL Rahul (4), KM Jadhav (1), skipper V Kohli (4), HH Pandya (0) and AR Patel (6) were quick five another wickets taken by Dhananjaya and turn match in favor of Sri Lanka as well. India were 109/0 (in 17.3 overs) and 121/6 (in 19.3 overs) just in two overs gape. MS Dhoni and Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in middle and took the charge in hand for India. Both played extra-ordinery cricket and presented India remarkable win by 3 wickets. Both added 100 runs for 8th wicket. Dhoni made 45* and B Kumar contributed 53* runs with realy admiring batting preformances for India. Akila Dhananjaya declared man of the match for his excellent bowling performances and took 6 important wickets.
