Kohli's 82 & Pandey's unbeaten 51 runs led India to chase 171 and clean sweeps Lanka with 9-0 across all 3-formats
One-off twenty20 international match between Sri Lanka and India played on 6th September 2017 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Putting into bat first by India, Sri Lanka managed to put good total of 170/7 runs in 20 overs. Dilshan Munaweera 53 and Priyanjan 40 runs were top scorers for Sri Lanka. YS Chahal took 3 wickets for India. India in reply with Kohli and Pandey's excellent batting won the match by 7 wickets with 4 balls remaining. Kohli declared man of the match for his 82 runs of 54 balls.
Earlier, India won the toss and opted to field first. Putting into bat first by India, Sri Lanka lost skipper U Tharanga early scoring just 5 runs Dickwell and Munaweera took the charge in hand for Sri Lanka and played good sensible cricket for few overs. Two quick dismissals Dickwella 017 runs and AD Methews 7 runs put India in some trouble. Munaweers played well and contributed well 53 runs just in 29 balls before bowled out by Kuldeep Yadav. In later overs Priyanjan 40 of 40 balls and I Udana 19 of 10 balls played good innings for Sri Lanka and managed to put decent score of 170 runs in 20 overs.
Following target of 171 runs, India lost opening batsmen KL Rahul 24 runs and RG Sharma scoring 9 runs. V Kohli and MK Pandey took the charge in hand for India and played superb cricket to present well deserving win by 7 wickets. Skipper Kohli made 82 runs of 54 balls and MK Pandey contributed unbeaten 51 runs of 36 balls to present India comprehensive win over host Sri Lanka by huge 7 wickets with 4 balls remaining. India won all matches of the tour and clean sweeps Lanka with 9-0 across all 3-formats as well. Virat Kohli declared man of the match and man of the series for his consistent batting performances.
