1st ODI : Heinrich Klaasen and DA Miller's big fifties led South Africa to upset India by 9 runs in last ball finished match

1st oneday international match of ODI match series played between India vs South Africa at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Thursday, October 06, 2022.

Putting into bat first by India in a toss delayed match due to rain, South Africa with Q de Kock's 48 runs, Heinrich Klaasen's unbeaten 74 runs and David Miller's unbeaten 75 runs managed to set good defending target of 250 runs for India to get. Shardul Thakur bowled well and took 2 wickets spending 35 runs in his 8 overs.

Following huge target of 250 runs in 40 overs, India after losing top orders cheeply, fought hard with Shreyas Iyer's fifty and Sanju Samson's superb 63 balls unbeaten 86 runs but short by 9 runs and lost the match by 9 runs. Lungi Ngidi took 3 wkts of 52 runs and Kagiso Rabada took 2 conseding 36 runs. Heinrich Klaasen declared man of the match for his 74 runs. Africa led 3-match 1-0 as well.
