Jesan Holder's 5 for 27 powered West Indies to defend 189 well and knees down India by 11 runs in close finished match at North Sound
4th one day international of five match series between West Indies and India played on Sunday, July 02 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. Having won the toss, West Indies after having good start by top orders managed to put 189 runs in 50 overs for India to get in 50 overs. India in reply managed to score 178 runs in 49.4 overs and lost the match by 11 runs. Jesan Holder took 5 wickets of 27 run and he declared man of the match for his match winning spell.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first. West Indies got excellent start with E Lewis and KA Hope initially. Both played sensible cricket and added 57 runs for 1st wicket before KA Hope got out scoring 35 runs. E Lewis also followed him scoring same 35 runs. SD Hope (25) and RL Chase (24) also played well before left the field. Other middle and lower order batsmen failed to stood in middle for long and lost wickets in regular interwals. West Indies managed to put small total of 189 runs in 50 overs.
Following small target of 190 runs, India lost three wickets in 47 runs and were in trouble. S Dhawan (5), Skipper V Kohli (3) and KD Karthik (2) were three quick wickets taken by West Indies. AM Rahane and MS Dhoni took the charge in hand for India and played slow but sensible cricket in middle overs. Rahane played well and contributed 60 runs before got out. HH Pandya joined with Dhoni and tried their best in later overs. Pandya made 20 and Dhoni dismissed for 54 runs and lower orders lost wickets quickly & India lost the match by 11 runs. West defend small total well and JO Holder picked up 5 wickets for 27 runs.
