1st t20 international match of 3-t20i Independence Cup series 2017 has been played between World XI and Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore today. Putting into bat first by World XI, host team Pakistan managed to put huge score of 197 runs in 20 overs. Babar Azam's 52 balls 86 runs and Shoaib Malik's 38 of 20 balls were highlights of Pakistan inning. World XI in reply managed to score 177/7 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 20 runs. Babar Azam declared man of the match for his 86 runs.
Fllowing huge target of 198 runs. World XI got good start with Tamim Iqbal and HM Amla initially. Both played well and added 43 runs for 1st wicket before Tamim Iqbal got out scoring 18 runs of 18 balls. Hashim Amla followed him scoring 26 runs of 17 balls in same over of Rumman Raees. Tim Paine and skipper F du Plessis took the charge in hand for World XI and played good inning of 25 and 29 runs before got out in quick interwals. Other middle and lower order batsmen could not compit with hugher required run rates and World XI managed to score 177 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 20 runs. Pakistan led 3-match series 1-0.
