Match 12 : Shakib Al Hasan & Towhid Hridoy's fifties followed by super bowling powered Bangladesh to upset India by 6 runs
12th ODI Match of Cricket Asia Cup 2023 between India vs Bangladesh at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium, Colombo on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Putting into bat first by India, Bangladesh lost 4 wickets on team score 59 runs in 14 overs. Shakib Al Hasan with superb 80 runs and Towhid Hridoy with 54 runs shape-up Bangladesh very well in middle overs. Nasum Ahmed also played goos inning of 44 runs and helps Bangladesh to set good defending target of 266 runs for India to get. Shardul Thakur with 3 wickets and Mohammed Shami with 2 wickets were top bowlers for India.
Following 266 runs target, India's most top and middle orders batsmen failed to bat and and lost wickets in regular interwals. Shubman Gill played superb inning of 121 runs. Axar Patel with 32 balls 42 runs tried his best but India managed to score 259 runs and lost the match by 6 runs. Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets for Bangladesh. Shakib Al Hasan declared man of the match for his 80 runs and 1 wicket.
