Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka with very poor batting performances all out in 15.2 overs scoring just 50 runs. Five Sri Lankan gone for a duck and only two batemen score runs in double figure. Kusal Mendis with 17 runs was top scorer. Mohammed Siraj bowled his career best spell and picked six wickets in his 7 overs spending just 21 runs. Hardik Pandya also took 3 wickets of 3 runs.
Following very small target of 51 runs, India with Ishan Kishan's 23* runs and Shubman Gill's 27* made chase easily in 6.1 overs and won the match comprehensively by 10 wickets with 263 balls remainings. Mohammed siraj declared man of the match for his wonderful spell 7-1-21-6. Kuldeep Yadav declared player of the series for his wonderful bowling performance with 9 wickets in series. India won ODI format Asia Cup 2023 as well.
