Match 1 : Young & Latham's centuries followed by O’Rourke & Santner's excellent bowling led New Zealand to upset Pakistan by 60 runs
1st match of Champions Trophy 2025 between Pakistan vs New Zealand played at National Stadium, Karachi on Wednesday, 19 February, 2025.
Putting into bat first by Pakistan, New Zealand made very slow start. On half way stage in 25 overs New Zealand were 113/3. Will Young and Tom Latham took the charge in hand and both smashed centuries. Will Young played superb inning of 107 runs before left the fields.Tom Latham also played excellent inning of unbeaten 118 runs. New Zealand added 207 runs in last 25 overs and set huge target of 321 runs for Pakistan to get. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf shared 2 wickets each for Pakistan as well.
Following huge target of 321 runs, Pakistan team all out scoring 260 runs and lost the match by 60 runs. Babar Azam 64 runs, Salman Agha 42 runs and Khushdil Shah with 49 ball 69 runs were top scorers for Pakistan. Will O’Rourke and Mitchell Santner shared 3 wickets each for New Zealand. Tom Latham declared man of the match for his 118* runs.
