SM Curran & BA Stokes' excellent bowling powers England to knees down India by 31 runs at Brimingham and led 5-match series 1-0

1st test match of 5-match series between England and India played at Birmingham. After winning toss, England managed to score 287 runs in 1st inning. Skipper JE Root played good inning of 80 runs for England. R Ashwin took 4 wickets and Mhd Shami took 3 wickets for India.

India in reply after top orders flop show, managed to score 274 runs with Virat Kohli's excellent 149 runs. SM Curran bowled well for England and picked-up 4 wickets. England got 13 runs minor leads and made 180 runs in 2nd inning with SM Curran's very useful 63 runs. Ishan Sharma bowled well for India and took 5 wickets of 51 runs. India given 194 runs target to win the match.

Following target of 194 runs, Indian batsmen once again surrendered against England pace attack and all out scoring 162 runs on 3rd day and lost the match by 31 runs. Virat Kohli the only batsman played well for India and he made 51 runs. SM Curran declared man of the match for his 63 runs and 5 wickets in match. England led the 5-match series 1-0.
