2nd oneday international match of three odi match series played between India vs Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday, January 12, 2023.
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka with poor bating performances managed to set small target of 216 runs for India to get. Sri Lankan team all out in 39.4 overs. Nuwanidu Fernando with 50 runs were top scorer for Sri Lanka. Kusal Mendis with 34 runs and Dunith Wellalage with 32 runs were other op scorers as well. Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav bowled well and took 3 wickets each. Umran Malik also took 2 wickets for India.
Following small target of 216 runs, India lost top 4 wickets on team score 86 runs. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya came in middle and played sensible cricket in middle overs. Hardik Pandya made well 36 runs and KL Rahul remained not out scoring 64 runs and presented India wonderful win by 4 wickets in 43.2 overs. Lahiru Kumara and Karunaratne took 2 wickets each for Sri Lanka. Kuldeep Yadav declared man of the match for his 3 important wickets.
