2nd qualifying match of Champions league 2014 was played between Mumbai Indians and Lahore Lions at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur today. Lahore Lions registered comprehensive win over Mumbai by 6 wickets. Umar Akmal was man of the match for his 38 runs of 18 balls.
Lahore Lions won the toss and decided to put Mumbai Indians to bat first. Mumbai could not batter start and lost SMP Simpson early scoring just 7 runs. Jalaj S Saxena got out on very first ball he faced. AT Rayudu could not played well and lost his wicket scoring 3 runs. AP Tare joined with MEK Hussey and bated well initially. Hussey made 28 runs and AP Tare contributed 37 runs before departed. Other middle and lower batsmen got good start but could not contributed well and at the end of 20 overs Mumbai managed to score 135 runs of 7 wickets.
Following target of 136 runs, Lahore made perfact start and both openers played good cricket initially. But on team score 51 and 66 runs both got out respectively. Skipper Md Hafeez took the charge and played sensible cricket with Umar Akmal. Umar Akmal Played super quick inning of 38 runs of just 18 balls and gave Lahore win by 6 wickets when 8 balls remained to bowl.
