Player of the Match : AD Mathews (Sri Lanka)

ICC World T20 2014 : 1st Semi Final match has been played between Sri Lanka and West Indies at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. Sri Lanka won the match by 27 runs D/L method. AD Mathews declared man of the match for his firing inning of 40 runs of 23 balls.

Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Lasith Malinga won the toss and decided to bat first. Sri Lanka started well but, lost 3 wickets in quick successions. Middle order batsmen HDRL Thirimanne 44 runs and AD Mathews 40 of 23 balls played well and put Sri Lanka on good score of 160 runs at the end of 20 overs.

Following target of 161 runs, West Indies could not batter start and they also lost 3 wickets early. DJ Bravo played well but, strome intrupped the match and after 13.5 overs match has to be abendoned and Sri Lanka won by 27 runs D/L method.

Thus, Sri Lanka advanced to Final and West has to go home. AD Mathews declared man of the match for his firing inning of 40 runs of 23 balls.
