West Indies selectors announced final 15 man squad for upcoming 2015 ICC Worldcup to be played to Australia and New Zealand in February. Jason Holder will be captain and Marlon Samuels will be vice-captain of West Indies Squad for ICC Worldcup 2015.
West Indies selectors has picked 5 allrounders, 3 specialist batsmen, 4 fast bowlers, 2 spinners and 1 wicketkeeper for 2015 worldcup. Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard have been left out by the Clive Lloyd-led selection panel. Sunil Narine and Darren Bravo will come back to international cricket after being named in the 15-man World Cup. Narine's return will come as the greatest boost for West Indies.
"I believe we have selected a very good team which will do West Indies proud at the World Cup," Lloyd said via a WICB media release. "We have a good mixture of some good seasoned players and some good youngsters who will fly the West Indies flag in Australia and New Zealand.
According to former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding, Bravo and Pollard were being punished by the WICB for instigating the strike during the Indian tour. The players' legal counsel said his clients were being victimised as well.
West Indies is in Group B along with Ireland, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe and UAE. Team West Indies will start its World Cup campaign against Ireland in their opening game at the Adelaide Oval on February 16.
