45th match of IPL season 7 has been played between Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. Punjab won the match by 4 wickets when 2 balls spares to bowl. Akshar Patel declared man of the match for his 1 wicket and 42 runs of 35 balls.
Earlier, Punjab won the toss and decided to field first. Punjab lost M Vijay early scoring just 5 runs but, KD KArthik joined with skipper Pietersen and played superb inning of 69 runs of just 44 balls. Skipper Pietersen also playes good inning of 49 runs of 32 balls. At one stage Delhi were 144 for 4 in 16.5 overs but, after that middle and lower order bastmen failed to kept momenton on and lost wickets in quick successions. At end of 20 overs Delhi managed to put 164 runs on board to achieved for Punjab.
Following target of 165 runs, Punjab made quick start with M Vohra and V Sehwag. Both added 67 runs before Vohra lost his wicket scoring 42 runs of just 19 balls. After that Seehwag (23), GJ Maxwell (14) and DA Miler (2) went back to pavillion in quick successions and Punjab were in trouble. WP Saha and AR Patel took the charge and played sensible cricket in middle overs. AR Patel remained unbeaten till end and contributed 42 runs. Punjab registered win in 19.4 overs by 4 wickets.
Thus, Punjab rule the points table with 2 points and Delhi disappointed with 0 points.
