IPL 7 Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders Report

34th match of IPL season 7 has been played between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders as Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. Kolkata with good all round batting performances won the match by huge margins of 9 wickets. Kolkata skipper Gamtam Gambhir declared man of the match for his unbeaten inning of 63 runs.

Earlier, Kolkata won the toss and decided to field first. Punjab puting into bat first, started as usual fashion and opening batsmen go after Kolkata bowlers rudely from the very first over. V Sehwag fired in first overs and score 17 runs of JH Kallis. But in 2nd over other opening batsman Mandeep Singh got out. Sehwag continued with his firing batting and made 72 runs of 50 balls before he lost the wicket. Other Punjab batsmen including GJ Maxwell, Miler and skipper GJ Bailey failed today and at the end of 20 overs Punjab managed to put 149 runs on board for Kolkata to achieved.

Following target of 150 runs, Kolkata made sound start with skipper Gambhie and RV Uthappa. Both played well and put Kolkata on front foot. RV Uthappa made quick 46 runs of jist 26 balls before he lost his wicket. MK Pandey joined with skipper and kept momentom on. Gambhie remained unbeaten till end and contributed 63 runs of 45 balls. Kolkata registered superb win by 9 wickets in 18 overs.

Thus, Kolkata got 2 points and Panjab suffered 2nd loss in IPL season 7. Kolkata skipper G Gambhir declared man of the match for his very well made 63* runs.
