IPL 7 Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders Report

Qualifier 1 match of IPL season 7 has been played between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata. The was originally scheduled on 27th of May but, rain postponed match on 27th May and played today on 28th May, 2014. Kokata with superb all round preformances won the match by 28 runs and qualify for Final of IPL 2014. UT Yadav declared man of the match for his 3 wickets spending 13 runs in 4 overs.

Earlier, Punjab won the toss and decided to field first and let Kolkata to set target. Kolkata lost skipper Gambhir scoring just 1 run. MK Pandey joined with RV Uthappa and kept wicket in hand for few overs. He departed contributing 21 runs. Orange Cap holder RV Uthappa played good inning of 42 runs of just 30 balls. In later overs KKR middle and lower order batsmen played qiuck cricket and put 163 runs on board to achieved for Punjab.

Flowing taget of 164 runs in rain atmostpher Punjab could not batter start and lost V Sehwag early scoring 2 runs in 2nd over. Other opening batsman M Vohra played quick inning of 26 runs of 19 balls before lost wicket. GJ Maxwell once again failed today and out for 6 runs. WP Saha and DA Miler toook the charge in hand and played sensible cricket in middle overs. WP Saha also departed scoring 35 runs to increase run rates. Other lower order could not follow the higher run rates and Punjab lost the match by 28 runs.

Thus, Kolkata with superb win enters in Final of IPL Season 7 and Punjab will play with winner of Eliminator team in Qualifier 2 match to enter in Final.
