1st match of 2015 IPL season 8 has been played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata. Mumbai with RG Sharma's 98* runs managed to put 168 runs for Kolkata. Kolkata with outstanding batting performances won the match by 7 wickets with 9 balls remainings. Morne Morkel (KKR) declared man of the match for his tight bowling spell with 2 wickets in his 4 overs spending just 18 runs.
Earlier, Kolkata won the toss and decided to field first and let Mumbai to set target. Putting into bat first, Mumbai could not made batter start and lost AJ Finch early in 2nd over scoring just 5 runs. Next coming AP Tare 7 runs and AT Rayudu 0 runs also left the field early and Mumbai were in deep trouble initially. Skipper RG Sharma took the charge in hand with CJ Anderson and played usefull innings for Mumbai. Both played well and kept wickets in hand as well. RG Sharma made very well 98* runs and Anderson contributed 55* runs and put good totals of 168 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Following target of 169 runs, Kolkata also could not made batter start and lost RV Uthappa early scoring just 9 runs. MK Pandey joined with skipper G Gambhir and played quick inning of 40 runs of just 24 balls and put Kolkata on front foot. Next coming batsman SA Yadav also played firing inning of 46 runs of just 20 balls with 5 massive sixes and gave Kolkata comprehensive win over Mumbai when 9 balls spares to bowl. Skipper Gambhir also contributed very well 57 runs of 43 balls.
