1st One Day Match : First ODI of 5 match series between New Zealand and India were played at McLean Park, Napier today. New Zeland with all round performances registered wel come win in very first match of ODI series 2014.

Ealier, MS Dhoni skipper of India won the Toss and decided to put New Zealand into bat first, and let them to set target for India. New Zealand lost openers Guptill and Ryder early but, KS Williamson (71) and LRPL Taylor (55) played important innings for their team. In later overs CJ Anderson (68) of 40 balls and L Ronchi (30) of 18 balls played quick innings and put huge score of 292 runs on board at the end of 50 overs.

Following huge target of 293 runs, India lost Rohit Sharma very early. Virat Kohli joined with S Dhawan and kept wickets in hand for few overs. But S Dhawan lost his wicket scoring 32 runs. Then AM Rahane (7) SK Raina (18) also departed early. Skipper MS Dhoni took the charge and played good inning of 40 runs for India. Virat Kohli completed his 18 the century and contributed 123 runs of 111 balls. Other lower order batsmen could not face New Zealand Pace attack well and at 48.4 overs India team all out scoring 268 runs and lost the match by 24 runs. Series New Zealand led the 5-match series 1-0.

CJ Anderson declared man of the match for his quick inning of 68 runs of 40 balls and picked up 2 wickets in 10 overs spending 51 runs.
