Eliminator match of IPL season 7 has been played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Chennai with great all round bowling and batting performances won the match by 7 wickets and progress to Qualifier 2. SK Rain declared man of the match for his 54* runs of 33 balls.
Earlier, Chennai won the toss and decided to field first and let Mubai to set target. Mumbai as usual started inning confidently with LMP Simmons and MEK Hussey. Both openers played well and added 76 runs for the 1st wicket before Hussey bowled by Jadeja contributing 39 runs. LMP Simmons contunued with his great form and made 67 runs of 44 balls. Other Middle and lower order bastmen could not stood in middle for long and lost wickets in quick successions. At the end of 20 overs Mumbai managed to put good score of 173 runs on board for Chennai to achiveved.
Following target of 174 runs, Chennai also got good start with DR Smith and F du Plessis. They made 60 runs partnership before Smith became victim of Harbhajan Singh. Bhajji picked up another wicket in same over of another openers F du Plessis (35) and Chennai were in trouble. BB McCullum also lost his wicket in hurry scoring 14 runs. SK Raina and DJ Hussey took the charge in hand. Both played sensible cricket and gave Chennai win by 7 wickets. Raina made 54* runs of 32 balls and DJ Hussey made 40* runs.
Thus, Chennai progress to Qualifier 2 match and will played with Punjab on 30th May 2014. Mumbai journey of IPL season over as lost today match.
