42nd match of IPL season 7 has been played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Bangalore registered win by 5 wickets in a low scoring match and got some hope for playoffs. AB de Villiers declared man of the match for his quick inning of 28 runs of 14 balls.
Earlier, Chennai won the toss and decided to bat first. Chennai could not made batter start and lost both openers DR Smith (9) and BB McCullum (19) early. Middle order batsmen SK Raina and DJ Hussey played sensible cricket and kept wickets in hand in middle overs and rotate strikes rate as well. Hussey lost wickets to Muralitharan scoring 25 runs but, Raina stood in middle and played superb inning of 62* runs of 48 balls. Chennai managed to put 138 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Following target of 139 runs, Bangalore started inning with PA Patel and CH Gayle. They lost PA Patel early scoring 10 runs. Virat Kohli joined with Gayle and took the charge. Both played very slow and sensible cricket and kept wickets upto 14 overs. Virat Kohli put in 15th over scoring 27 runs of 29 balls. AB de Villiear joined with CH Gayle but, Gayle also departed contributed 46 runs of 50 balls. AB de Villiers played quick inning of 28 runs of 14 balls before he lost wicket. Yuvraj did the rest in end and Bangalore won the match by 5 wickets when 1 ball remaining.
Thus, Bangalore got well needed 2 points and Chennai got 0 points. AB de Villiers got man of the match for his 28 runs of 14 balls.
