IPL 7 Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings Report

Qualifier 2 match of IPL season 7 has been played between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Punjab with extra ordinery batting performance of Virender Sewag with 122 runs won the match by 24 runs. Punjab now play with Kolkata in Final match of IPL 7. V Sehwag got mat of the match for his quick 122 runs.

Earlier, Chennai won the toss and decided to field first and let Punjab to set target. Punjab as usual started inning confidently with M Vohra and V Sehwag. Both played quick cricket and put 100 runs in just 9.1 overs. M Vohra departed scoring 34 runs but, Sehwag stood in middle and smashed quick century of IPL 7 season just in 50 balls. DA Miler also played good inning of 38 runs of 19 runs and Punjab managed to put very huge score of 226 runs at the end of 20 overs.

Following target of 227 runs, Chennai could not made batter start with DR Smith and F du Plessis and lost Plessis on 0 and DR Smith on 7 runs. But, SK Raina came in middle and played extra ordinery inning of 87 runs of just 25 balls. At one stage he smashed 33 runs of Sandeep sharma's over. He unfortunately got run out with superb throw of GJ Baily. B McCullum and RA Jadeja took the charge and played sensible inning for Chennai. Both got out in quick successions on Chennai score 0f 140 runs. McMcullum got run out on 11 and RA Jadeja cought by Johson of P Awana on 27 runs. DJ Hussey also got out socing just 1 run. MS Dhoni tried his best with 42 runs of 31 balls but lost the match by 24 runs.

Thus, Punjab qualify for the first time with comprehensive win and Chennai dis appointed with No.3 spot this year in IPL 7. V Sehwag declared man of the match for his 122 runs.
